Amek M1000 - Refurbishing

Postby mooble » Tue Sep 15, 2015 10:16 am

Hi,
i am an analog console newbie and a nice guy gave me a M1000 i would like to refurbish.
This console has some noise issues (mainly hiss), one tape return does not work, but everything else works fine.

Where to start?
Where can i get schematics?

Thanks for advice and suggestions!

Hi Michael,

I see this post was two years ago. Did you find the schematics you needed?

Yeah, AML in the UK. And also lots of new AMEK parts at GRS in California for AMEK consoles. Pots, switches, P&G faders, manuals & schematics, channel strips, mic pre upgrades, PSU parts and new PSUs, knobs...lots of stuff. I get all my AMEK parts from them. They don't list many of the parts on their web site, Better to call or email them. Been to their shop many times and they have rows and rows of AMEk parts and lots of used consoles and consoles they part out.

Here's their info www.grssystems.com. info@grssystems.com. 951-767-0271.

Been dealing with them since the '80's. They have rebuilt several of my consoles over the years and sorted out my automation system when I bought it second hand. Good people.

Best!

Forgot to add, they also have the red Dubilier capacitors for doing console channel strip recaps. I tried my hand at doing my own channel recaps a while back and was going to buy them from the UK. So they saved me on the shipping costs and the bank card exchange rate fees getting them here in the US instead.

Best!
