Kinda surprised, I guess...I scored a 32 channel Solo in pristine shape for a stupidly low price...gotta say it: this is one monster board sonically!

Count me in.

We have a 24 channel Topaz Project 8 with automation here which I enjoy very much.

The automation is via an old utility that was initially written for Windows 3.11 Before Christ, and was later on tweaked for Windows 95BC I think. It's not syncable to current systems in anyway without a huge bother so I don't use it now.

But I'm trying to get a plug-in programmer friend of mine write a mini MIDI driver for it so that I can control it straight from Pro Tools via MIDI tracks (and my Command 8 ). It shouldn't be too difficult but see how it goes. He says he could do it (he is the guy who wrote de-esser plugin for Pro Tools, and he recently launched his own softsynth called SynthMaster) but he's a bit busy person so that will wait until he takes some time aside for favour work.

I really like its sound and particularly smooth EQ so if I can get that automation sorted than that's us done for a long while.

Hi Barish,
I did some service on a Topaz recently, and was thinking also about using this desk in relation with a PT system.
As your post is a bit old now, I wanted to know if your project is completed, I mean did your friend wrote the software for this new application ?
I would be interested to know more about it :D
Best,
Guy
