Yeah, you heard that. An area for the free and open exchange of ideas. Or else. Let the banning begin.

Hi all!

I'm Thomas, 23, in Paris, France. I'm here cuz like most of you I'm fond of nice analog console.
I will own a SC600 soon, and will use it for recs from time to time, and mainly mixes.

I'd like to improve it's summing and make its auxes a bit cleaner... I will probably recap it and change the input transistors to achieve that, but I have no clue for the summing... If someone can help ;)

Cheers!

Hi !

I'm Rick and I'm an analogoholic…

I admit to using Digital Performer on Mac Pro with a lot of MOTU hardware as a multitrack, but I still use analog mixers to input and re-mix thru'…

mixers:
AMEK Hendrix 40 frame full patchbay
Soundcraft Ghost LE32 (MIDI drum mix)
Soundcraft K1-16 (guitar mix)
Soundtracs Topaz Maxi 32 (keys mix)
Soundtracs Topaz Project 8-32 (idle)
Soundtracs MRX (doing FOH at a local pub)

considering how many members there are this section doesn't seem very busy !
are we all reclusive workaholics ?

Hi Group,

I'm Jakob Erland, 50years, psychologist and solder slave at Gyraf Audio.

My main feat was keeping a Calrec UA8000 alive for more than two decades - in the now defunkt Feedback Recording in Denmark. Other than that, I've serviced and worked on a fair number of other consoles, from AMEK to SSL - and related stuff.

Favorite own desks are Studer 982's, Amek BC2's and the locally brewed NP/NTP desks.

Looking for schematics and mod documentations for Amek BC2 - seems like there is a serious lack of these in public.

Hello everybody!
I see it's 11 months since the last new member arrived, so I'm here to boost your community by one.

I will immediately admit that I am an amateur, and my (Soundtracs Topaz 32) console appears in the "everything else" category.

While I'm here, I'll ask for your advice about replacing the console. It needs to be transportable but also robust, as it will be carried to performances in small halls. 24 channels might just be enough.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Welcome, James
For location recording and small FoH gigs I´m using a Midas Venice F desk. It´s all analog with 32x32 Firewire interface built in.

Hello Jens,

Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the tip on the Midas.
I read the SOS review, and it looks like a super piece of kit. I've looked around, but haven't been able to find anyone selling a new one yet, although the U-32 is available. This seems to have USB instead of Firewire.

I'm in Hamburg, BTW.

After the change of ownership Midas renamed their desks. It´s called VF24 now: http://www.music-group.com/Categories/M ... 24/p/P0AD5

Thanks Jens.

I've just found this for sale:
http://www.justmusic.de/de-de/pa-licht/ ... -u-32.html

Unbelievable price! Is this the same as your desk, but with 32 channels?

The VeniceF has some more features than the U series, fully parametric mids, e.g.
Pricing nowadays is ridiculous, that´s true. Good for us :-)

Hi Jens,

Thanks for your help. I'm searching for these desks - I need 32 ch, and haven#t found one yet.

I'll start a thread under Midas to see if anything comes up.
