Calrec S master fader

Postby confusiontrip » Mon Mar 13, 2017 7:40 pm

Hi friends of the forum,

This is my first post here. I just bought a Calrec S series for peanuts to use in my recording studio. My plan is to use it for mixing purposes only. But I have two questions:

1-The console doesn't have a master bus fader. It has two main output modules with the compressor built in, but no faders.
I have some spare channels with faders, is it possible to use one of them in the master? According to the manual, the channel faders are IY 3677 and the master output uses IY 3682.

2-I was also reading about the auto gain ranging. How can I know if my console has that option? Is it something you can HEAR? Would it be something not suitable for mixing music, like an auto leveling of some sort? I'm asking because I know this console was made for broadcast purposes.

It'll be great if you can help me with this.

Thanks!
