Re: calrec pq1253 and opinions on sound? The EQ on the 1253 could be described as potent, and very musical. I love mine! It has the ability to boost frequencies quite a bit without very much smear and phase shift. It is flexible and easy to dial in a sound i like.
Re: calrec pq1253 and opinions on sound?Technically they are very well built; solid, rugged, reliable. The control graduations are accurate.
The info I get back from clients who have PQ1253 (and similar) units that I have racked and/or refurbished is that they really like the sound and the ease of use...... and that's the PQ1253 as well as the rack! Gareth
Re: calrec pq1253 and opinions on sound?thanks guys. very helpfull. The seller never got back to me so well. That left me with no option. Now I am looking at a Calrec Minimixer 3. 20 channels 10 mono i/p w mic pres using Lundahl transformers,10 stereo i/p,4 stereo groups, 2 masters with compressors.
Any thoughts. I am pretty serious and am hovering between this and an old studer 189? What do you think...? Cheers again
