Hello and welcome to the Calrec Console forum.
Some background on Calrec and also myself......
Calrec has been producing mixing consoles for just over 40 years. In this time technology has progressed tremendously, and Calrec has often been at the forefront of the developments. Virtually all of Calrec's consoles have originally been aimed at the Broadcast industry and its specific requirements.
The one console that was produced for music recording was the UA8000, dating to the mid-1980's.
Much of Calrec's manufacturing since 2000 has consisted of digital consoles.
With the continual advancement of television with surround sound, many of the analogue broadcast consoles are being replaced with digital consoles. The analogue consoles are finding their way into different audio production environments.
My own involvement with the consoles started in 1987 with a UA8000.
Since 1993 I have on several occasions undertaken freelance work for Calrec itself - design, installation, and other activities. The relationship is ongoing.
Where possible, I will help and advise on Calrec issues and questions. What I will not do is get involved with currently manufactured or currently supported products - Calrec Customer Support are best for these.
My areas of speciality are the customisation and refurbishment of Calrec's older analogue products and the racking-up of console modules.
GJC Designs has been operating as a full-time business since 1993.
As well as the Calrec activities, the business also undertakes design projects and manufacture of analogue equipment, details of which are in the "Console Repair Services" section of this website. Other console and equipment support can be catered for, either directly or in association with specialist engineers.
Thanks for dropping by.
