Not sure exactly what you mean......

Series resistors outside the meters.
You can put several LEDs in series with one resistor for the string of LEDs.

Rereading this topic, I had previously missed the part where Jim said to replace the existing 100 ohm resistor with a 1k one.
I guess these 100 ohm ones are mounted somewhere behind the meters in the bridge?
I haven't yet opened anything up except to remove one meter face to see the lamp mounting.

i just installed the soft white LED's into a Trident Flexmix master module. Looks great. I also use a rectifier diode in series with the current limiting 1k 1/2 watt resistor.
